About Amy
My background in photography and post-production goes back to my early college days in 2006 when I first started using Photoshop for my photography projects. I then went on to study at Art Foundation level where my love of painting and photography combined to form a keen interest in photographic manipulation (retouching). From there I was accepted onto Westminster University's Photographic Arts BA Hons, where I further explored the creative use of Photoshop within photography.
In 2012 I was offered a junior retoucher role at a high-end retouch house in London's creative district. It was here that I trained to a high-end level and I have been working as a freelance retoucher since early 2016. During this time I have collaborated with some of the worlds biggest fashion, advertising and fine art photographers, publications and brands.
Through the years I have:
- trained a number of junior retouchers in high-end retouching processes and techniques
- helped photographers achieve the desired visual and quality results for their work
- taught one on one lessons with all kinds of students, from aspiring creative graduates to a retired GP in his 80's
- have run group workshops in Photoshop for Photography
Nothing gives me more joy than when I am able to contribute my specialized skills to empower others in fulfilling their own creative potential.

- Anyone requiring access to expert technical advice with any Photoshop image editing task or problem
My one-to-one sessions are offered via Skype's screen sharing feature, which is a free service and very user-friendly. Don't worry if this is new to you, I will guide you through the steps to get you set up and running. Once we're set up, we'll use the screen sharing feature to start viewing each other's screens and begin our session.
At the beginning of each session, I will ask you a few questions about your goals for our time together and what you hope to have gained by the end of it. Most students like to work on their own images, but if this isn't possible for you, let me know and I shall provide some sample images to work on.

- Layers: the different types and layer ordering
- Masking: getting to grips with layer masks, when and how to use them
- Different methods of selection
- Adjustments such as Contrast, Exposure and Black and White
- Technical specs and tips for quality assurance

Perfect! I am currently involved in 1-2 hour instructive and pleasant Photoshop Tutorials with Amy
As a 'mature student', I find her to be professional, knowledgeable and articulate and able to pitch the tutorial to my level of knowledge and technical understanding.
She has a personable and the most friendly demeanour and I can wholeheartedly recommend Amy without reservation.Perfect! Amy is very educated and experienced in her subject matter, and is patient and clear in her explanations. When teaching something like photoshop, there are so many ways to do one thing and she is always willing to tailor her teaching to work with your personal workflow. I've been looking for a photo editing tutor to help me for a long time, and i'm so pleased I found Amy. Amy is an efficient, knowledgeable and adaptable tutor, with the aim to help you understand Photoshop to help maximise your work. She is flexible in her working manner, changing her pace to fit one suited to her clients. In doing so, she managed to create a perfect balance of pace and knowledge meaning I was able to learn to the max. With a very warm and comforting attitude, Amy provides understanding of a non-destructive edit, making her sessions memorable and lasting. Understanding some of the clear basics I lacked from teaching myself, Amy’s help from these sessions have enhanced my technical ability so I can create the photograph I have always desired.
Amy has been my tutor for photoshop and I have made tremendous progress very quickly. She is extremely patient and very clear in her explanations. She offers you different alternatives for a particular task. Not only you are learning even more, but you can also pick up the method that is best adapted to the effect you want to achieve. Finally Amy is extremely efficient in her teaching as she would send you links for you to look at outside the tutorial time if she thinks it is something you can look at on your own. I highly recommend Amy as a tutor.
Amy really helped me with my retouching career, as a beginner to the profession of retouching she broke everything down for me to make it more understandable. She was patient and extremely knowledgeable about all the things that I wanted to get out of my sessions with her. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Amy is a very welcoming and friendly tutor! I have a mixture of skills in photoshop, some beginner and others slightly more intermediate, and Amy was able to adapt quickly to teaching me at different levels for different aspects of the software. She has a very clear and well paced teaching style, that kept me engaged throughout. I am definitely going to go back for a second lesson as everything I learnt in the first has made my photographs look so much better already! Highly recommend!
