About Wilfred

I’m Coach Wilfred Franklin, a vocal coach and performer with decades of experience helping students develop their voices, confidence, and performance skills. My teaching starts with strong fundamentals: breath control, vocal technique, tone, and understanding your voice. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced singer, I tailor lessons to your goals and explain each step in a patient, supportive environment. I also work with Just Us Music Group (JUMG) in artist development. For students interested in performing, my coaching can extend to stage presence, song interpretation, and preparation for live performance. I’m also known as DJ Le Wander on Just Us Arts 405 Radio, which broadcasts on Live365. My radio work features independent artists and JUMG artists. My goal is to help you understand your voice, build confidence, and make steady progress.

About the lesson

My online singing lessons are personalized for your age, experience, and goals. Beginners and experienced singers are welcome. We start with vocal fundamentals: breath control, vocal technique, tone, and understanding your voice. A typical lesson combines guided exercises with work on a song, helping you apply what you learn to your own singing. I explain each step clearly and give you practical exercises to continue working on between lessons. For students interested in performing, we can also work on song interpretation, stage presence, and confidence. Artist development is available through my work with Just Us Music Group (JUMG), with coaching tailored to your interests and readiness. Your 30-minute introductory meeting gives us time to discuss your goals, get to know each other, and decide where to begin. Online sessions take place on Zoom. Please wait for the confirmed date, time, and joining instructions directly from Coach Wil or our team; a Superprof notification alone does not confirm your appointment. My approach is patient and supportive, with a focus on building strong fundamentals and steady progress.

We use Superprof to connect with prospective students. Superprof's Student Pass is a separate, automatically renewing subscription charged by Superprof. It does not cover lessons with Coach Wil. Once we have connected, scheduling, Zoom invitations, and lesson payments are arranged directly with us. Just Us Music Group (JUMG) invoices you for lessons. Lesson fees and any payment plan are agreed before paid lessons begin. You manage or cancel your Student Pass through your own Superprof account. 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?
I developed my passion for music early in life, growing up around sound, performance, and expression. Music wasn’t just something I listened to—it was something I felt. Over time, that passion turned into a lifelong pursuit of mastering the voice.

My primary instrument is the human voice. It’s the most personal and powerful instrument there is—because it’s directly connected to who you are. No two voices are the same, and that’s what makes it so special.
2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?
I can listen to soul, R&B, and classic vocal-driven music all day. Artists like Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, and Donny Hathaway never get old to me.

What keeps me locked in isn’t just the songs—it’s the emotion, storytelling, and vocal control. That’s the level I train my students to understand and reach.
3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
The most challenging—and most transformative—course I offer is Artist Development combined with Advanced Vocal Control.

This goes beyond hitting notes. We break down:

Vocal strength and endurance
Emotional delivery
Stage presence
Finding your true sound
It’s difficult because it forces you to grow not just as a singer, but as an artist and person. That’s where real breakthroughs happen.
4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
The most complicated instrument is the voice—hands down.

There are no buttons, no strings, no external controls. Your instrument is tied to your:

Breath
Body
Emotions
Confidence
That means if your mindset is off, your voice reflects it. Mastering your voice means mastering yourself.
5) What are your keys to success?
My keys are simple, but powerful:

Consistency over talent
Confidence built through preparation
Understanding your unique sound—not copying others
Discipline in practice, freedom in performance
And most importantly: never stop growing. Even at a high level, there’s always another layer to unlock.
6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.
Prince — for his creativity and fearlessness as an artist
Whitney Houston — for vocal excellence and emotional power
Jay-Z — for understanding the business side of artistry
That conversation would be about music, mindset, and legacy—not just talent.
7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.
One of the biggest lessons I learned early on was this:

I saw incredibly talented singers struggle—not because they lacked ability, but because they lacked confidence and direction.

At the same time, I saw less experienced singers rise quickly because they were coach-able, consistent, and willing to grow.

That changed how I teach forever. Talent is just the starting point—development is what creates results.
