About Dominic
I have been interested in religion, theology and languages (including Hebrew, Latin, Russian) for many years and have written several books and articles on religious and philosophical topics. I have taught Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, philosophy, theology and related disciplines at school and university levels, and enjoy eliciting curiosity and passion for those subjects in the students I teach. I have lived and taught in Russia, the U.S., and the U.K. and taught students of many different backgrounds. I seek to find original approaches to topics by making links between different spheres. Even when an exam syllabus is quite precise and limited, I find that leading students into deeper areas and then back to the syllabus makes exam prep much easier: suddenly things which seemed random and needing to be memorised are illuminated in light of other factors and become easier to understand and apply. Over the years, I have fielded all sorts of hard questions and worked out the answers with my students, developing their own capacity for original thought and analysis.

I have worked as a teacher, lecturer and tutor for 30 years in different countries with students ageing from 12 to 60. I know my subjects incredibly deeply and have always been capable of simplifying complex concepts and making them understandable through striking and memorable examples. I have worked at university, on university foundation courses, and (currently for 3 years) at a leading UK school as a teacher of GCSE and A Level, helping scores of students get into top UK universities with top grades. I enjoy my subjects and many, many students have told me that they came to love those subjects through my teaching, even if they didn’t to begin with!

Perfect! Mr Ruben was an excellent teacher with a deep understanding in Religion, he taught me well and gave deep insights into theology of Christianity, making difficult topics easy to understand. He has many many years of experience that enriched my understanding. I thank him very much and I am very grateful he was my teacher. He will surely get me a 9 on my GCSE exam and inspire me to study RS for A Levels. I highly recommend Mr Dominic Ruben as a tutor for anyone who struggles with understanding religious topics, whether or not you are a student.
