I was tutor alongside Jake at an intensive Cambridge summer school for A-level students and prospective Cambridge applicants in July/August 2016.

The characteristic of Jake's tutoring I would most highly endorse is a strange one as a teacher, it is his capacity to learn. I have seen him learn quite quickly the thinking styles and behaviors of his tutees, and adapt his tutoring to specific minds in order to perform very strongly with a wide range of pupils. This is something special and a real asset, as too many tutors bring tutoring styles adapted to their own strengths, rather than that of the pupil.

Jake also has a genuinely impressive knowledge base about the subjects he teaches - notably economics. At our summer school I witnessed him make big strides with a particular student in classes about the balkans (she had been falling behind quite quickly) and was able to drastically improve her standing by taking the time out to ground her specially in the subject. She came away from Jake's sessions with a tangible improvement to her confidence.

It was a genuine pleasure to work with Jake as a tutor, and I wholly endorse his tutoring skills both in one-on-one and group environments.

Jake tutored me in GCSE Maths via Skype over the course of 6 months. He was able to adapt his tutoring exactly to my level, and I effectively consolidated work done in school and further developed my understanding in areas even beyond what was required. He was patient and conscientious, sourcing additional materials himself to assist my learning, and displayed a high level of competence in the subject. I am sure Jake will do a fine job tutoring others the way he did me!
