About Imogen
Hi there! My name is Imo.
I love my subject and I love my job! I love seeing my pupils grow in confidence and proficiency with English.
I achieved A/A* in each of the subjects I'm tutoring at A-Level/GCSE.
I also have a 2:1 bachelor's degree from Oxford University in English Literature and Language. As a result of my degree, I have a very thorough and strong background in English as a subject, analysing texts and the field of essay writing itself.
At Oxford, I greatly benefitted from the tutorial system (1:1 teaching) and it taught me first-hand the improvements that can be made through individualised tutoring. I understand how helpful 1:1 tutiton can be and also how best to conduct it.
I have now been tutoring a year. I have accumulated a mass of resources, and lesson plans and have a good grasp of which approaches work best for my students.
I’m extremely proud of my progress so far and that of my pupils. I hope to meet you soon!

Hi! My name is Imo - thanks for checking out my tutoring profile.
My lessons are led by what my students and their parents believe they/their child needs the most help with. I will listen to your concerns and then we can work on those areas together!
I am super approachable, flexible about times and am always on hand to help in an email! No issue is too big or too small :)
My lessons are mainly over webcam.
I also hold a FULL ENHANCED DBS CHECK if this is something you would prefer your tutor to have - evidence of this can be provided.
FOR GCSE AND A-LEVEL:
- I am happy to base teaching around the curriculum and go through new ways of reading and understanding the texts being studied or just help with the general improvement of literacy.
- I have experience with most GCSE texts e.g. 'Of MIce and Men', 'An Inspector Calls', 'Jekyll and Hyde', 'Macbeth', 'Romeo and Juliet' and the poetic anthologies, to name a few. I have also read and taught extensively around the topics studied at the A level e.g. ' war', 'the gothic', 'dystopia' etc.
- Lessons will consist of activities such as reading and analysing passages, mind-mapping and finding new approaches to essay questions and then making and analysing essay plans to these questions. I also have past papers and mark schemes that I will go through as we progress. Through my own years as a student, I can also provide and suggest other resources that might be useful.
FOR LITERACY AND READING:
- I can tutor for all ages and can go at whatever pace suits the student.
- Lessons will consist of reading passages and going through worksheets that work on spelling, grammar, general writing skills and comprehension.

Perfect! Imogen is a fantastic tutor! She is highly knowledgeable; her teaching reflects her passion and expertise. Imogen has been helping me with my English for the last 3 years. Between year 7 to year 9 she’s really given me the confidence to back my abilities both in class and in my essays and I can see the improvements I’ve made as a result of her help.
