About Rebecca

I am currently an English teacher working in a private international high school in downtown Toronto. I work with high school English students from China, Korea, and Vietnam in a classroom setting and spend evenings and weekends providing one-on-one tutoring for students of all levels and language proficiencies. i hold an Honours Bachelor's Degree in Professional Writing and Master's Degree in Corporate Communications and have roughly 2 years of teaching experience.

About the lesson

As a certified English teacher, I have both classroom and one-on-one experience working with students from as primary as grade 1 to as advanced as university English essay writing and ESL for children, young adults as well as business professionals. I approach my teaching with the goal to tailor my lessons to target each individual student's needs, areas for improvement, learning goals, and areas for advancement. I structure 2 hour sessions that contain a component of a full lesson, in class practice, and individual homework assignments to ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn, practice and produce what they are learning in my classes. I start with a professional board certified diagnostic assessment that allows me determine precisely the student's level and the areas that need to be improved. I then tailor lesson plans and practice opportunities to target each area individually before assigning homework assignments to secure newly learned writing, reading, speaking, and language learning techniques. Every student regardless of age, nationality, academic level, learning style and English proficiency level gets the one-on-one attention and targeted teaching to advance their strengths, improve their areas for improvement, and master the English language for comprehensive success. As a certified teacher myself, I know the growing need for one-on-one teaching and have the experience to understand education board standards and requirements.
