About Sierra
I am an educator who has 24 years of experience. I spent 19 years in a public school district in Colorado and for the past 5 years I have had the amazing privilege of teaching abroad. I taught for two years in Abu Dhabi as part of a reform in their education system. For the last 3 years I have been in China teaching at two international schools, in Beijing and the ancient capital of Xi'an. These experiences gives me a unique experience I bring to my teaching.
I have a BA in Psychology and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction and remain an active life long learner.

My teaching methodology is first and foremost student centered. I believe in fostering student agency and empowering learners to engage in the process of learning. I use a guided release model of learning, where the content is intentionally modeled. Students are then guided through the process with questions and continuous feedback. My teaching is based on authentic tasks that are created to answer real world problems and to engage learners throughout the process.
