Hello, I am Helen. I am an English language teacher with more than 7 years of experience. I have a higher education and international certifications (CELTA, IHCYLT). I specialize in teaching teenagers and adults, helping them achieve their language goals. My teaching methodology is based on a personalized approach, which allows me to consider the needs and interests of each student. I strive to create an engaging and supportive atmosphere in my lessons, where students can confidently practice their skills and build their confidence in using the language. I employ a communicative approach that prioritizes real-life communication. My teaching methods focus on engaging students in interactive learning through group work, role-plays, and discussions, which fosters collaboration and enhances their speaking skills.
My typical lesson plan:
1. Warm-Up (10 minutes)
Engage the student in a brief conversation about their favorite restaurants and what they typically order.
2. Presentation (15 minutes)
Introduce key vocabulary related to food and dining (e.g., appetizers, main courses, desserts)
Play an audio clip of a restaurant conversation, highlighting useful phrases for ordering.
5. Practice (15 minutes)
Activity: Role-play the restaurant scenario. The student will act as the customer, and you will act as the waiter.
6. Production (15 minutes)
Activity: Have the student create their own dialogue based on a dining experience. They can choose a specific restaurant theme (e.g., Italian, fast food).
Instructions: The student will present their dialogue to me, incorporating the vocabulary and phrases learned.
7. Feedback and Reflection (5 minutes)
Discuss the student's performance during the role-play and dialogue presentation.
