About Rowan
I am a French tutor with over 3 years of experience and a PhD in French Linguistics. I specialize in teaching teenagers aged 13 to 18 by connecting language learning with French youth culture. We explore popular music, social media trends, and teen films to make lessons fun and relevant. I focus on teaching contemporary slang and conversational fluency that teens can use in real-life situations. My goal is to bring French to life in ways that feel natural and exciting. I believe that learning a language is more than grammar—it’s about culture and connection. I use dynamic methods to keep students engaged and motivated. By relating lessons to what’s popular and current, I help make French memorable for young learners. I’m passionate about nurturing confidence and curiosity in every student. Together, we build skills that go beyond the classroom and last a lifetime. Learning French with me means gaining more than language—you’ll gain a new way to connect with the world. Let’s start this exciting journey together!

My teaching approach centers on using current French news and media to make learning real and engaging. We dive into articles, videos, and broadcasts that reflect today’s issues and ideas. This helps students build language skills while staying connected to what’s happening in the French-speaking world.
I focus on helping learners express their opinions clearly and confidently. We practice analyzing media sources and develop respectful debating skills. These activities improve critical thinking and conversational fluency.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether they are newcomers adjusting to a new culture or professionals looking to sharpen their language for work. I support their growth by exploring diverse French perspectives and cultural nuances.
Through lively discussions and interactive tasks, students learn to read, listen, and speak with understanding and confidence. My goal is to make lessons motivating and practical.
Together, we’ll explore the language in a way that’s meaningful and empowering. Get ready to speak French with confidence and insight!
