About Matt
My career bridges the high-octane world of professional sports entertainment with the precision of elite classical performance. I have a proven track record of performing and teaching at the highest levels of the modern percussion landscape.
Professional Sports Entertainment: I have performed on the big stage as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies NBA Drumline and am currently locked into the audition process for the Kansas City Chiefs Rumble Drumline. I know exactly what it takes to bring elite chops, flawless timing, and high-energy showmanship to packed stadiums.
Classical & Concert Artistry: Beyond the marching grid, I am dedicated to music-making at the highest academic and artistic levels. My experience spans orchestral percussion, brass bands, and elite wind ensembles, giving me a deep, well-rounded mastery of the total percussion curriculum.
Educational & Instructional Pedagogy: I just finished and received my Bachelor's of Music Education from Arkansas State University. I have served as an instructor and consultant for five different high school drumlines and front ensembles, tailoring my approach to help both battery and pit students excel. Additionally, I have been invited to teach at regional percussion clinics, where I've worked with many High End Instructors to ensure the success of our students!

My Teaching Method & Techniques
I believe that great percussionists aren't just great players—they are great musicians. My teaching style bridges the gap from the marching world to concert percussion, emphasizing:
Customized Fundamentals: We focus on efficient mechanics, standard rudiments, and rhythmic accuracy using proven pedagogical techniques.
Total Percussion Approach: Instruction is available for snare drum, mallets (marimba/vibraphone), timpani, and auxiliary percussion.
Audition & Performance Prep: Mental conditioning, sight-reading strategies, and mock auditions to ensure you feel confident under pressure.
