About Simon
With 13 years of experience and more than 300 students taught, I am a passionate piano tutor who enjoys helping learners discover the joy of music. I work with high school students, college learners, and adults who want to build a strong foundation in piano or advance their musical skills. My teaching approach is simple, structured, and encouraging, making it easier for students to stay motivated and confident.
My teaching philosophy is to make every lesson clear, supportive, and flexible. I believe that learning piano should feel meaningful and enjoyable, not stressful. This is why I focus on understanding each student’s goals, challenges, and learning style before planning the lessons. Whether someone wants to learn classical, pop, film music, or basic theory, I guide them with patience and practical methods.
I use a mix of demonstrations, real-life musical examples, and easy explanations to help students understand fingering, posture, reading sheet music, scales, chords, and expressive playing. I also include fun exercises that build speed, accuracy, and confidence. Over the 13 years, many of my students have successfully performed in school programs, college events, and small recitals. Some have even composed their own simple pieces, which is something I truly enjoy seeing.
I always make sure that students feel supported throughout their learning journey. I help them set realistic goals and track their progress so they stay encouraged. Whether someone is learning piano for the first time or returning after a long break, I aim to make the experience positive and fulfilling.

My teaching approach for Piano focuses on clear communication, flexible methods, and strong musical understanding. I always start by learning about the student—how they think, what music they like, and what goals they have. This helps me adapt my teaching style to their needs. Some students learn better by listening, some by reading, and others by doing, so I change activities and examples to support each learning style.
I also include helpful subjects such as Music Theory, Ear Training, Sight-Reading, Finger Techniques, and Rhythm Training. These areas make students stronger and more independent musicians. I use real-life examples like popular songs, simple case studies from famous pianists, and practical exercises taken from real performances to show how piano skills work outside the classroom.
Each lesson is organized in a simple and clear way, so students always know what they are learning and why. I encourage open communication, allowing students to discuss challenges, ask questions, or explore creative ideas. My goal is to make piano learning enjoyable, motivating, and meaningful while helping students build strong technical and musical foundations.
