About Lorna
KiaOra, hello! My name is Lorna, I am a second year biomedical science student at the University of Otago in Dunedin and have played the piano (along with the violin and other instruments) for most of my life. In fact, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t play the piano as my family has filled our home with music. I also enjoy running, team sports, and any outdoor activity.
A few of my relevant qualifications:
ANZCA Grade 7 piano with honours
Trinity College Grade 8 violin with Merit
ANZCA Grade 4 Theory of music
Over 5 years piano teaching experience to students of a wide age range.

Each lesson is structured to include basic skills such as scales, strengthening exercises, aural work and sight reading practice, pieces, improvisation, and much more to help the student become a well rounded pianist. I also allow time to work on things the student is particularly focused on during each lesson ie. learning a specific song they like, and provide methods and tools to help them achieve their goals. I look forward to working with you and helping you learn the wonderful instrument which is the piano.
