About Jonathan
My Sports Science tutoring is focused on making complex theory easier to understand, relevant and applicable.
I use examples from a wide range of sports — including football, rugby, boxing, athletics and others — to help students connect topics such as physiology, training, performance and coaching theory to situations they can actually visualise and understand.
Sessions are tailored to where the learner currently is. That might mean breaking down a difficult concept, developing the ability to apply knowledge, improving analysis, or understanding what is needed to achieve a higher grade.
Alongside Sports Science and PE, I can also support students studying sports coaching and coaching-related topics, drawing on my BSc in Sports Science and Performance Coaching and my qualified teaching background.
My approach is active and engaging rather than simply working through slides. The aim is to build genuine understanding first, then help students apply that understanding confidently in coursework, exams and assessments.

My approach is simple: understanding comes first, and better grades follow.
I specialise in breaking down difficult concepts, making them easier to understand, and then helping students build from knowledge into confident application, analysis and stronger assessment performance.
Every learner is different, so I tailor sessions to where you are now and where you want to get to — whether that means moving up a grade, or stretching a high-performing student further.
I use practical, relevant examples to bring theory to life across both Business Studies and Sports Science, helping students connect abstract ideas to real situations.
I am a PGCE-qualified teacher with QTLS, hold a BSc in Sports Science and Performance Coaching, and am currently completing an MBA alongside a professional career in commercial management.
Sessions are engaging and participative — not simply reading through slides — with questioning, discussion and application at the heart of each lesson.

Details
Free 30-Minute Introductory Session
The free 30-minute session is designed as an initial diagnostic and planning session, rather than a full taught lesson.
We’ll use the time to discuss your course, current level, upcoming assessments and any areas you’re finding difficult. I’ll then help identify where the main gaps are and what we should prioritise in future sessions.
It also gives us both the opportunity to make sure my teaching approach is the right fit for you before committing to paid lessons.
