About Jasmin

I am a friendly, patient and approachable tutor who genuinely enjoys helping others learn and develop their confidence. I want to tutor because I know how much of a difference having someone explain a difficult topic in a clear and supportive way can make. I enjoy seeing students have that “lightbulb moment” when something finally makes sense, and I find it rewarding to help students realise that they are capable of more than they may initially believe.

I am currently about to start the third year of my MPharm (pharmacy) degree at the University of Lancashire, giving me a strong academic background, particularly in science and biology. Throughout my degree, I have developed effective study, revision and exam techniques which I can share with students to help them work more confidently and independently.

Alongside my studies, I am a Level 1 British Gymnastics trampolining coach, where I work with children and young people of different ages and abilities. Coaching has taught me how important it is to adapt the way I communicate depending on the individual. It has also developed my patience, organisation and ability to give constructive feedback in a positive and encouraging way. These are skills that I bring directly into my tutoring.

My teaching style is supportive and student-centred. I do not believe in simply giving students the answers; instead, I prefer to encourage them to understand why something works. They can then gradually become more independent. I use clear explanations, worked examples, diagrams, practice questions and active recall, adapting each lesson depending on what the student finds most helpful.

Most importantly, I want my students to leave each lesson feeling more confident than when they started. Whether they are aiming for a particular grade, struggling with a specific topic or simply want to feel more comfortable with a subject, I want to provide a friendly and encouraging environment where they can ask questions, make mistakes and improve without feeling judged.

My approach to tutoring is supportive, engaging and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and are encouraged to understand the reasoning behind a concept rather than simply memorising information.

I use a range of teaching techniques depending on the student and subject, including clear explanations, worked examples, diagrams, practice questions and active recall techniques. I usually begin by identifying the student’s current level and any areas they find challenging, then structure the lesson around those needs. I also encourage students to explain concepts back to me, as this helps identify gaps in understanding and builds confidence.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although I am happy to adapt the length depending on the student’s age, concentration and requirements. A typical lesson will include a brief review of previous content, teaching of new material, guided practice and independent questions, followed by a summary of key points and areas to work on before the next session.

Through my degree and placements, I have developed strong communication skills and experience explaining complex information clearly to different people. I also have experience as a Level 1 British Gymnastics trampolining coach, where I have planned and delivered structured sessions and adapted my coaching style to suit different ages, abilities and learning needs.

I am particularly suited to tutoring primary and secondary school students, as well as students studying GCSE-level subjects, particularly science and biology. I am also happy to support students with revision, exam preparation, homework and developing effective study techniques. My aim is to make lessons enjoyable and approachable while helping students become more confident and independent learners.
