About Tamara
I am passionate about expanding the scope of Music in higher education. I grew up studying European Art Music almost exclusively, but now I specialise in Arab music traditions at an esteemed educational institution. I am currently in the 2nd year of my PhD in Music at the University of Birmingham writing my doctoral thesis on 21st century Arab popular music, more specifically, novel manifestations of the aesthetic notion of tarab.
I am tailoring my academic career towards teaching so that when I graduate with my PhD I can enter the workforce as an academic that will help entice a new generation of students to study Music at university. Tutoring is the first step in that direction.
