About Astara
At 24, I have traveled to more than 50 countries and lived in seven. My unwavering will to succeed in all the endeavors I set out to do have enabled me to do research on the prowess of social media in Eastern Africa, work as an au pair in Italy, coordinate uplifting events for children with cancer in the Philippines, produce nuanced reporting on Indigenous communities in the Yukon Territories and British Columbia, Canada, and write communications strategies for a micro-finance development bank in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Equipped with a Master of Arts in International Studies, a Bachelor of Journalism and a Minor in Political Science, as well as additional credits from Yukon College in Whitehorse, the Yukon Territories, and the United States International University Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, I have made a lifetime commitment to gaining new perspectives, and finding alternative ways to disseminate newly acquired knowledge in the most accessible ways possible.
Working in assistant, associate and management-level positions across a range of sectors, including for NGOs, news outlets, banks, academia, and multilateral organizations like UNA-Canada, has opened my eyes to the truly multifaceted, yet intricately connected world we live in.
I am currently pursuing a PhD degree in Socio-cultural Anthropology. My proposed research focuses on intergenerational domestic violence and its implications on survivors thereof. I aim to find strategies that can be tailored to each unique community in collaboration with local NGOs in an effort to enforce the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I spend much of my time working on alternative research production and dissemination methods, so I can cater to whatever works for you.
