About Lauren
I have a bachelors of science in biomedical science, followed by a masters of research in global infectious diseases and am currently completing my PhD in antimicrobial resistance.
Along side studying I am a competitive swimmer and teach a range of ages how to swim (from new borns to adults 70+).
I am also an avid reader - crime books are my favourite!

I myself am a visual learner, and feel I learn best with structured, well though out lessons and so this is how I conduct my lessons when teaching.
For example, I would first start with the lesson aims, what should the student expect to get out of my lesson? Before going onto the basics of the subject matter, including diagrams as visual aids. This would enable me to distinguish (if teaching a group) who already has foundation knowledge of a particular subject area. The lesson would progress to build on the foundation knowledge, challenging the students who found the first half easier. No matter the stage at which a student is at which the subject matter, I always try to leave the lesson with a question in order to keep them thinking, gearing them up for the follow up lesson.
