About Olaf
My name is Olaf. I am currently finishing up my Master's degree in philosophy and now I am in the process of becoming a high school teacher.
Philosophy is something that is very dear to my heart. I've always been the kind of person who loves to overthink things, asks very difficult questions and never just accepts things at face-value. I also love to engage in deep and meaningful conversations, so philosophy is definitely a very suitable field for me.
I also have a very big passion for teaching. I've always loved to help out my fellow students when they didn't understand something. When I am interested in something (like philosophy) I am very enthusiastic about it, which definitely allows me to teach with a lot of passion!

My favorite thing about tutoring is that tutoring gives me the oppurtunity to put my students first. Since I'm only teaching one person at a time, I can completely adapt my lessons to my students' needs and wishes. Everyone has their own way of learning and my job is to help you learn in a way that works for you.
My approach to teaching is to always make you feel at ease and comfortable. My motto is: "You are here to learn, not to already know everything". Making mistakes is a normal and healthy part of any learning process.
My priority is to first get to know you as a student. I think it's very important to know what kind of student you are, how you like to learn and study, which things you find difficult etc. I will use this information to create a lesson plan and teaching strategy that works for you.
I have been tutoring in different subjects and at different levels for over 5 years. I have basically finished my Master's degree in philosophy and starting September, I will start my training to become a high school teacher (in philosophy). I am fluent in both English and Dutch, so teaching in English is no problem for me as well.
I am more than willing to teach any kind of student at any level. Of course I offer tutoring at high school level, but also university level is more than possible. I do need to note that my specialization is analytical philosophy (mainly cognition philosophy and philosophy of language). I of course have a very solid base in all fields of philosophy, but if you were to require help with a Master's degree in ethics it might be more difficult for me.

Ik woon al ruim 4 jaar samen met Olaf, dus ik ken hem inmiddels goed. Olaf probeert altijd zijn lessen zoveel mogelijk aan te passen aan zijn leerlingen en hij zorgt ook altijd voor een gezellige sfeer.
Olaf is een goede leraar omdat hij niet alleen veel kennis heeft, maar ook met veel enthousiasme lesgeeft. Hij heeft daarnaast een vriendelijke en warme uitstraling waardoor hij leerlingen op hun gemak stelt.Olaf is zeer gedreven en serieus. Hij probeert alltijd op verschillende manieren iets duidelijk te maken. Hij is zeker in voor een geintje, dat maakt het ook nog eens gezellig!
