About Margaret

Masters' degree in music (piano performance) from the University of Houston.
Church musician with decades of performing, accompanying, and teaching experience.
Emphasizing music literacy even for the blind, and good technique even for the young.
Frequent but optional performing opportunities provided.
Music theory taught throughout.

About the lesson

I teach individuals as young as four years old, if parents can support daily practice. Older students can be reassured that arthritis can help good piano technique.
I prefer the Faber piano method for beginners, since it discourages equating finger numbers with notes.
I incorporate some of the Dorothy Taubman school of piano technique, not to cure but to prevent the bad technique that can cause repetitive motion injuries.
Because I teach individuals one at a time, classroom disruption is not a problem.
