About Karmi
I am a pianist and song writer with a passion to teach. I completed my Unisa grade8 in school and went on to study Jazz (BTMus) at TUT. I wrote and performed while part of a trio called La Diva. My teaching career started in 2007, teaching solo piano, improvisation and music theory. I have since taught at various private schools such as Midstream College, Cornwall Hill College and Lebone College.

I have a well rounded knowledge of classical, jazz and contemporary music. I make it a priority to learn what my student desires to accomplish before we start. I like to make reading music and music theory simple and enjoyable. I am fluent in English and Afrikaans. A typical lesson includes quick revision of the previous lesson and a walk through the exercises that had to be worked on. We then continue or hang in there a bit if needed. I welcome any questions related to what were busy with. I welcome any students, whether they desire to be able to accompany someone or perform alone, explore the jazzy side, current hits or learning to write songs and improvise. I give additional theory lessons to students who are preparing for their theory exams and also to those who needs extra help in order to master a level.
