About Kate
My love for piano began through fascination with melody, harmony, and emotional storytelling through music. This passion inspired me to complete a PhD in Piano Pedagogy, where I explored teaching methods, musical interpretation, and technical development in greater depth. Over the past 11 years, I have guided students from different musical backgrounds through lessons that feel structured, encouraging, and creatively inspiring.
I enjoy helping students feel comfortable at the piano and discover their own musical identity through steady learning. My teaching philosophy focuses on patience, expression, and healthy technical development because every learner experiences music differently. Some students improve through structured exercises and repetition, while others gain confidence through creativity and improvisation. I carefully adapt lessons to ensure students feel motivated and supported throughout their musical journey.
Outside teaching, I continue exploring piano repertoire, composition, and performance styles to keep my lessons creative and engaging. Staying connected to music allows me to bring fresh artistic inspiration and practical performance ideas into lessons. I want students to improve not only technically but also emotionally through stronger creativity and musical confidence. Helping learners express themselves through piano remains one of the most meaningful parts of my teaching experience.

My piano lessons focus on helping students build musical confidence through structured practice and creative exploration. I teach finger coordination, rhythm control, sight reading, chord progressions, improvisation, dynamics, and musical interpretation using methods that make learning enjoyable and approachable. Lessons are designed to help students understand music deeply instead of simply memorizing pieces. I create a supportive atmosphere where learners feel encouraged to grow at their own pace through guided practice and consistent motivation.
Every lesson is personalized according to the student’s experience level and musical interests. Beginners receive patient support with posture, note reading, and hand coordination, while advanced learners strengthen technical precision, expression, and performance skills. I include exercises, duet activities, rhythm training, and musical discussion that help students improve naturally over time. Students preparing for performances or examinations receive focused support with stage confidence and structured preparation techniques.
I believe piano becomes more rewarding when students connect emotionally with music and feel confident expressing themselves creatively. My lessons aim to replace frustration with enjoyment through patient explanation and steady encouragement. Many learners gradually become more expressive, disciplined, and comfortable performing as their understanding improves. My goal is to help students build strong musical foundations while developing confidence and creativity that support lifelong musical growth.
