About Naomi
I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy, with 9 years of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. My teaching philosophy emphasizes balancing structured technical exercises with creative exploration, ensuring that learners progress while enjoying the process. I tailor lessons to each student’s pace, interests, and goals to create a motivating and effective learning experience.
I design lessons that progressively build skills, focusing on posture, finger technique, and musical understanding for beginners. Intermediate learners develop repertoire, sight-reading, and expression, while advanced students focus on performance preparation and nuanced interpretation. My approach encourages active engagement, curiosity, and consistent practice, helping learners achieve both technical mastery and expressive ability.
Beyond teaching, I actively perform, explore contemporary and classical repertoire, and study pedagogical methods to keep lessons relevant and inspiring. Piano lessons are most successful when students combine technical skill with expressive interpretation. I focus on finger technique, scales, arpeggios, sight-reading, chord progressions, and musical phrasing to help learners gain both accuracy and artistry. Lessons are designed to be engaging, structured, and paced according to each student’s abilities. Students are encouraged to explore creativity while mastering the fundamentals of piano playing, making learning both fun and meaningful.
Beginners start with posture, simple melodies, basic finger exercises, and introductory theory to build a solid foundation. Intermediate learners develop technical agility, explore more challenging repertoire, refine sight-reading skills, and understand dynamics and phrasing. Advanced students focus on performance preparation, musical interpretation, stylistic nuance, and advanced techniques such as polyrhythms and complex chord progressions. Each lesson is personalized with clear guidance, hands-on practice, and constructive feedback to ensure consistent progress.
Learning piano strengthens focus, discipline, and emotional expression. Students gain confidence through practice and performance, while also developing listening skills and musical intuition.
