About Lucy
My piano teaching journey began with a simple goal—to help others enjoy performing as much as I do. I hold an Associate of Music in Piano Skills and have over 6 years of teaching experience. I’ve worked with students preparing for worship teams, community theater, and weddings. My approach focuses on building solid technique and confident expression. I teach accompaniment skills, sight-reading, and ear training in practical ways. We’ll also explore improvisation and performance etiquette. Every lesson is designed to motivate and inspire. I emphasize musical interpretation and connection with listeners. Students learn how to play with purpose, not just accuracy. My teaching is flexible, adaptive, and filled with encouragement. Whether you’re performing on stage or in service, I’ll help you find your musical voice. Let’s create performances that feel both personal and powerful.

For me, piano teaching is about helping students uncover beauty through understanding. Classical music has layers of meaning waiting to be discovered. We start each lesson by exploring a piece’s form, harmony, and history. This creates a strong foundation for expressive playing. I teach phrasing, dynamic control, and emotional storytelling through sound. My lessons encourage students to connect their intellect with their heart. I work particularly well with The Composer, who loves creativity, and The Therapy Seeker, who finds comfort in music’s flow. My teaching blends structure and reflection in equal measure. We’ll learn how to communicate the composer’s voice while finding your own. Every exercise supports control, artistry, and sensitivity. I aim to help you play in a way that feels authentic and alive. You’ll bring the great works of the past into the present with grace.
