About Andreas

I hold a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Theory and have extensive experience teaching and assessing essays and examinations across UK higher education.

My academic background is in International Relations and Political Theory. I graduated with a BSc Econ (Hons) in International Politics and International History, and later completed an MA in Critical Global Politics. My doctoral research examined democratic societal transformation and social movements.

Since 2012, I have taught Politics and International Relations across Levels 3–8 in UK higher education (Foundation Year, Undergraduate, Master’s, and postgraduate research levels). Alongside my teaching, I have worked with undergraduate and postgraduate students as a private academic tutor since 2014.

My teaching and mentoring experience spans a wide range of subjects, including:

International Relations Theory
Political Philosophy
Security Studies
Global Governance
British Politics
Comparative Politics
(Classical, Early and Modern) Political Thought
Global Political Challenges
Political Economy for IR students

I also work at the intersection of politics, philosophy, and history, and regularly support students studying PPE, Politics, International Relations, History, and related disciplines.

Over the years I have worked with students from a variety of UK and international universities, as well as A-level, IB and AP students. I particularly enjoy helping international students navigate the expectations of the British academic system.

I currently work with students across multiple levels, from school pupils preparing for university to undergraduate and postgraduate students seeking to strengthen their academic skills.

- Academic Integrity Policy -

My tutoring is designed to support students in developing their own understanding, analytical skills and academic writing abilities.

I do not write essays, coursework, dissertations, or any assessed work on behalf of students. All work submitted for assessment must be the student’s own.

For ethical reasons and to avoid conflicts of interest, I am also unable to tutor students who are currently enrolled at institutions where I am teaching, supervising, examining, or otherwise professionally affiliated with.

I offer academic tutoring and mentoring for students studying Politics, International Relations, History, Philosophy and related disciplines.

Sessions are designed to support students in developing a stronger understanding of course material, improving academic writing, and building confidence in constructing arguments and engaging with complex ideas.

A typical session may include:

- explaining key concepts or theories
- discussing readings and lecture material
- developing essay structures and arguments
- preparing for exams or presentations
- guidance on research methods and dissertation planning
- feedback on draft work and academic writing skills

Tutorials can be structured flexibly depending on your needs. Some students book one-off sessions to clarify a specific topic, while others prefer longer-term support over a semester or academic year.

Each session includes preparation where necessary, recommended readings, and follow-up guidance to support your continued progress.

I also offer preparatory tutorials for students about to begin university who would like an introduction to academic expectations, reading strategies, and essay writing in the British higher education system.

If you are interested in a longer-term teaching plan (for example support across an entire module or semester), we can discuss your goals and design a structured programme of tutorials.

I aim to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where students can ask questions freely and develop confidence in their academic abilities.
