About Evan
I am currently a final-year Chemistry PhD student at the University of Southampton, having previously studied for a Masters in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
My research presently focuses on the manufacture of metal nanoparticle catalysts - which are each a few billionths of a metre in size and can only be properly viewed using an electron microscope - but fundamentally my work builds on ideas I first encountered in GCSE and A-Level classes.
Outside my academic work, I am a musician and chess player and this year finished third in the World Quizzing Championships, so I have plenty of experience and advice to offer regarding learning and memorising information beyond just teaching.

My teaching style is probably best described as precise yet versatile - aiming to quickly identify problems in understanding before finding an approach that explains the concepts in a way suited to the student - not everyone learns or thinks in the same manner, and it is crucial to be flexible in adapting to the individual student's needs. I generally teach hour-long lessons but this can easily be varied if necessary.
I have been tutoring science and maths for nine years, and have a well-established track record of fostering student improvement.
