About Aliyah
I am a postgraduate History researcher with a strong academic background and a proven record of supporting students at GCSE and A-Level. I hold a First Class degree in History, for which I received an academic prize and I am currently undertaking postgraduate research alongside my tutoring work. My academic training enables me to provide clear, structured, and rigorous support in essay-based subjects. I specialise in helping students improve written expression, develop well-supported arguments and understand examiner expectations. I take a calm, professional approach to tutoring and tailor each lesson to the individual student’s needs, goals, and level of study. I am committed to providing high-quality, ethical academic support. I hold an Enhanced DBS check, ensuring a safe and professional learning environment for all students. Whether tutoring English or History, or offering CV writing and proofreading services, my focus is always on clarity, accuracy and building independent academic skills. Approach and Teaching Methodology: My approach to tutoring is structured, academic and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I focus on developing strong foundational knowledge alongside the skills required for exam success, particularly essay writing, argument construction, and analytical thinking. Lessons are planned around the relevant exam board specifications and mark schemes. I break complex topics into manageable sections, use guided questioning to check understanding and model high-quality responses so students can see what examiners are looking for. Where appropriate, I incorporate exam-style questions, source analysis, and structured writing exercises to build confidence and accuracy. I place a strong emphasis on helping students become independent learners by teaching transferable skills such as planning, critical reading, and effective revision strategies. Lesson Structure and Length A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer sessions are available where needed. Lessons usually include: A brief review of prior learning Targeted teaching of content or skills Application through questions or written work Clear feedback and next steps Qualifications and Experience I hold a First Class degree in History, for which I was awarded an academic prize and I am currently a postgraduate researcher.
