About Katie
Hi, I'm Katie, and I love music! I've been teaching for about 7 years now and playing professionally for 9. I have a degree in music education and jazz trumpet from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. I perform jazz, rock, salsa, pop, contemporary, and band music live and in recording sessions.
Trumpet and music have brought me to some incredible places, and I love helping my students have the same access to the joy and connection that music brings us.

I teach private trumpet lessons to students of all ages and abilities, and trombone and euphonium to beginners and intermediate levels of all ages. I have experience with students from age 8 to 65, you just have to be big enough to hold the instrument! :)
In each lesson, you can expect to spend some time focused on brass technique and some time focused on the music that grabs your attention and passion. During lessons, I take notes and send a practice plan to you right after the class that includes what we worked on and recommendations for the upcoming week.
Additionally, I focus on strategies for creating a healthy, sustainable, long-term relationship with music and your instrument. While learning music is incredible, it comes with its challenges as well, and we will work together to move through those and continue with a positive relationship to music.
My students have been accepted as trumpet majors into Miami University, brass majors at Cincinnati’s School for Creative and Performing Arts, won spots in local and regional honor bands, and earned scholarships to continue studying their instrument.
Brass instruments are incredible for their versatility. I'm excited to explore what makes you love music and brass :)
