About Patricia
Graduate of a small private college in Alma, Michigan. I have 32 years of elementary teaching experience. I served as an instructional Reading Coach for teachers, Reading Intervention Specialist, Reading Recovery Teacher, first, second, third, fourth and fifth grade Teacher. These positions have kept me abreast of current teaching strategies for many different age groups.
Trainings to enhance my teaching experience include: Reading Recovery, Guided Reading and Writing, Running Records and the utilization of Running Records, numerous literacy intervention programs and most importantly… the use of Growth Mindset!! I would appreciate the opportunity to discover your child’s academic ability and to help them develop into a lifelong learner with a passion for reading!!!

Every engagement I have with my students is individually prescribed to their academic needs. Daily Data is collected regarding the child’s reading and writing strengths. This information is used to teach the child to use what they know to get to information they do not know. These analogies, along with strategies taught, help the child unlock the magic of learning to read and write and advance to reading to learn to comprehend.The lessons are set up into short activities that involves reading and/or writing. Each activity promotes rigorous thinking, curiosity, exploration and discovery. Guided reading, familiar reading and writing along with phonemic awareness and letter and word work are interwoven in each lesson. My lesson format follows a major portion of the Reading Recovery framework.
