About John
I have been tutoring maths at GSCE (or equivalent level) since 1998. I am a Chartered Engineer and a qualified accountant in the UK, with experience in solving commercial problems using maths. I specialise in exam techniques as well as using maths to solve practical problems in daily life.

I believe there is no one-size-fit-all approach when it comes to private tutoring. I adapt and change methods of teaching to suit each student's needs, as I believe every student is unique and has his/her own way of absorbing knowledge and improving. I focus on student's knowledge gaps, and I am in favour of using real life examples while explaining maths concepts in order to allow those concepts and theories to stick into the student's mind.
I also believe practice makes perfect. At the end I will give student practice questions to attempt and at the start of the next session I will spend time to review with the students on their attempt and give feedback and point out the issues/challenges they face during their attempt.

I also offer specify exam technique sessions where the focus is on tackling practice exam questions, including correcting practice exam questions. I also prepare and set my own mock exam.
No fee will be charged if cancellation request is given at least 24 hours before start of each session.
