About Caroline
With over 35 years in the music profession, I bring extensive experience as both a performer and teacher. My career includes 10 years as a reading house musician at sea and over 12 years performing and teaching in Goa, India. I particularly enjoy playing in theatre shows and big bands, and I love helping clarinet students develop both their technique and their love of music

I teach clarinet from beginner to post–Grade 8, across classical and jazz. Lessons are designed around each student, whether for fun, exams, or ensemble playing. Caroline is extremely patient and encouraging teacher. She has great knowledge and experience of her instrument and explains concepts clearly. Would definitely recommend.
Caroline has taught me from scratch (and it did sound scratchy at first!) and she’s been a very helpful, encouraging teacher. She recommends really good choices of books to work from, helps me problem-solve when I hit a wall, congratulates me when it sounds good, and is patient with me when I go through a slow patch and am feeling frustrated. She also has her ear to the ground about local bands that I could join. I’ve been having lessons with her for about 15 months and look forward to many more.
My daughter loves her weekly piano lessons with Caroline. She has this way of engaging with her that keeps her interested and committed to learning. She's a really encouraging, honest and very professional teacher. We were so lucky finding Caroline. Highly skilled, fantastic teacher and just an all round lovely person.
Caroline really helped me with my confidence towards my GCSE music exam. She was encouraging and patient and helped me to grow my love for music! Thank you Caroline.
I came to learn about Ms. Caroline through a post in Quora which I was searching, regarding woodwind instruments. Back then, I had zero knowledge of music other than listening to it. So I sent a lengthy WhatsApp post to her, inquiring about everything under the sky from, should I be taking lessons at my age, to which instrument to buy, and which books to read. She gave a meticulous point by point reply elucidating everything and ended with the line: "You will never know if you're good enough unless you try". It is this positive and caring attitude that first attracted me to her class.
Ms. Caroline is an international artist and a UK trained music teacher with over 2 decades of teaching experience and even more as a performing artist.
She has a thorough understanding of not only music performance but a sound technical knowledge rooted in the fundamentals of music theory as well. And she delivers the same with a very personal touch with a clear understanding of her pupils' musical background (or the lack of it in my case).
Right from recommending the books to read to explaining the more difficult concepts and conventions in a lucid manner, she chaperones her students in a way that doesn't overwhelm them.
She also takes regular quizzes (and surprise ones too) to assess and reinforce the concepts learnt.
The lessons cover the syllabus of all major music assessment boards: ABRSM, MTB and Trinity College, London. The student is free to choose any particular syllabus or follow them all.
The sound foundation that she builds in music theory helps one analyse, appreciate and play (and dare I say even create..) music well.
I can wholeheartedly recommend her music lessons both theory and instruments as joining the same has been one of the best things that ever happened to me.View more recommendations
