About Wes
I'm Wes Stanton, a professional double bass player for 15 years. I specialise in the rockabilly style of playing - my specialism is teaching students to learn how to slap the upright bass. Whether you want to slap like Elvis' bassist Bill Black, or more modern rockabilly or psychobilly styles, I can help you become proficient with this entertaining and exciting style of playing.

I can work with complete beginners, or those who are looking to transition from bass guitar or jazz-style double bass to the rockabilly or psychobilly slap approach. A typical lesson is 60 minutes, and I observe each student's current ability, working to help them gain an understanding of what they need to practise to improve and ultimately master this technique. Each lesson centres around the student's current ability level, and we work through bass lines and songs starting with the simple and leading to confidence in more complex tunes and patterns over time.
