About Ben
My name is Ben! I was born in a small town in rural Ireland, where I benefited from some tremendous teachers as a youngster and teenager - as well as one or two not-so-great ones that demonstrated what NOT to do
Then I was lucky enough to study percussion and drum kit performance with the assistant principal percussionist of Ireland's national orchestra. I graduated with a degree and a healthy appreciation of how inspiring a teacher can be!
Ever since then, I've tried to embody all the best characteristics of my teachers over the years. These include patience, compassion, and the ability to think laterally and come up with different ways to explain concepts and solve problems until you find the one that works for the student.

My approach to teaching is tailored to you! I have broad musical tastes and draw from a range of subjects for inspiring, so I am truly open-minded when it comes to setting your personal goals as a drummer, and how we work towards them.
I have been teaching for over 15 years to students of all ages and ability levels, including students with complex educational needs, including those on the Autism spectrum.
I have performed at the highest level in both formal (reading/orchestral) and informal (rock'n'roll!) music settings. So we can work on your reading and theory, or just learn your favourite song by ear and rock out!
