About Bret
I love learning, teaching, and thinking about science and its applications in the real world. Trust me, as soon as we get talking about Mathematics or Physics you will feel it!
Personally, I have been tutoring students one-on-one at the college level since 2014. I was trained and certified to teach at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Kelowna, Canada. In 2017, I graduated from UBC attaining a Bachelor of Science, with Honors Physics designation. Since then, I have worked as a Researcher, Lab Instructor, University Tutor, Secondary School Teacher, University Lecturer, and STEM program developer at both the secondary and college level.
These are my credentials, but I truly believe that they hold very little weight when considering a teacher's ability to transfer their knowledge and proficiency to their students. The credentials that matter to me are:
- I've taught 2000+ students over the past 7 years, where over 75% of these students have come from parent/ teacher/ student recommendations
- 98% of my university students have graduated with a diploma in the program they hired me to help them with
- 90% of the students I've helped go on to be employed in a field related to the subject I taught them
Working as a freelance tutor, I've had the opportunity to work one-on-one with thousands of students. I have worked in schools and universities all over the world, which has revealed to me certain patterns that lead to shortcomings in students reaching their goals in learning. Over the years I have developed a program which guarantees the success of my students. The PHYSiMATICS Method is so successful that I run training programs throughout the year, teaching other tutors how to do what I do. Additionally, I develop customized resources for students which ensures they are learning at international standards.
If you are looking for a teacher to relate with, then you've found what you're looking for. As a student I went through every struggle, and every grade level, that someone could go through. When I entered university I had no idea how to learn by myself. In secondary school I managed to get good grades by just being smart. However, once I encountered the leap in education, I quickly realized that I needed other skills to succeed at the level I was used to. So I focused very hard on figuring out how I could learn challenging concepts in a short amount of time. Once I did this, I pulled off better and better grades and at the same time having a very good memory of the concepts, even after the courses were long gone. Through establishing my own rhythm in learning, and analyzing it, I found that I was able to teach my peers and new students the concepts of the courses very fast, sometimes faster than the professor! Since then, my project in educating people is in my effort to demonstrate that I can transfer such methods to others. My hope is that I can share my perspective on Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, and/ or Statistics with you and/ or your children!

I have successfully helped thousands of students reach their goals in learning. I was one of the pioneers in STEM online education and have developed a program which ensures that students are learning and making progress with each and every lesson. My methods are based on known educational and psychological principles which allow for you to learn the concepts much faster and remember them for a significantly longer time. They say that my teaching is much more effective than their professor’s or any content that exists on YouTube. I provide detailed explanations (with diagrams) and a recipe/ algorithm for working through different problems. In tutorial, I break down difficult questions using the methods I teach you and provide you with a quiz following the lesson. I mark each of these quizzes individually and send you detailed feedback. My philosophy is that making mistakes is a vital part of learning, but why not make those mistakes with me, have them corrected, and then perform to your highest potential come test time.
