About Loz
I’m a professional musician, bandleader and educator with extensive experience both performing and directing ensembles. I currently manage and direct a professional big band, which has given me a strong understanding of how music works in real rehearsal and performance settings.
Alongside this, I’ve composed and arranged for a range of ensembles, including big band, brass band, orchestra, and funk/jazz groups. This practical experience shapes how I teach—I focus not just on theory, but on how music actually sounds, functions, and comes together in performance.
I enjoy working with students who want to go beyond the basics, whether that’s developing their understanding of theory, learning how to write effectively for ensembles, or building their own compositional voice.

ABRSM Music Theory (Grades 1–8)
Structured support for students preparing for ABRSM exams. I break down theory into clear, manageable steps, helping students build confidence and understanding ahead of exams. Lessons can also be tailored to address specific theory gaps, whether for coursework, performance, or general interest.
