About Kate
I have been teaching and performing music for over 20 years. I have a Master's Degree in Music from Washington University in St. Louis and Bachelor's Degree in Music from Butler University in Indianapolis.
I've performed as a soloist with The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Union Avenue Opera, Winter Opera Saint Louis, The Pulitzer Arts Foundation, and Gateway Opera, a chamber opera company I cofounded in 2014.
As a principal singer for the St. Louis Symphony Chorus since 2007, I've worked with world-class conductors, musicians, and soloists and performed at Carnegie Hall four times.

I use a bel canto style to teach students to find their strongest, most beautiful voice. We work together to increase range, find more ease and fun in singing, and improve stage presence and confidence.
I know singing in front of someone else can be a vulnerable thing. My studio is a place where you can explore your voice in a relaxed, welcoming environment! Students have described my teaching style as calm, patient and encouraging.
I'm classically trained as an opera singer, and I love working with students on classical, musical theatre, and pop styles of music. I teach ages 12 and up!
My students have found success in school musicals, singing contests, community theatre, college music programs, and symphony choruses.
