About Selena
I am Selena Whitford, a USA-based professional singing tutor with 8 years of experience in vocal performance coaching and music education. I specialize in helping students improve vocal quality, confidence, and musical creativity through organized and motivating lessons.
I have received the “Professional Vocal Excellence Medal 2024” and the “National Creative Music Mentor Award” for outstanding student performance development and vocal training achievements. My students have successfully improved stage confidence, choir participation, and live performance abilities through structured coaching methods.
Outside teaching, I enjoy piano practice, songwriting, and attending professional music performances. I believe every student has a unique musical identity, and my teaching approach focuses on developing that individuality while building strong technical vocal foundations. Singing is a combination of technical skill, emotional expression, and disciplined vocal practice. In my professional online one-to-one live singing lessons, I help students from K-12, high school, college first-year, and bachelor first-year levels develop a confident and polished singing voice through structured learning methods.
I begin with vocal foundations, including breathing control, voice placement, pitch correction, and vocal warm-up techniques. Many students struggle with consistency and vocal strength, so I focus on diaphragm breathing exercises and vocal stability training. Students also learn rhythm development, tone clarity, and music reading fundamentals that improve overall performance quality.
As students progress, I introduce music theory, songwriting structure, harmony understanding, and vocal interpretation techniques. Students learn how to connect emotionally with lyrics while maintaining technical accuracy. I also provide choir preparation, audition guidance, and school performance coaching. Each lesson is carefully customized according to the student’s vocal range, goals, and learning pace.
In advanced sessions, I focus on stage performance confidence, microphone handling, vocal endurance, and artistic expression. Students practice multiple genres including contemporary, classical, and modern vocal styles. I also provide recording guidance and vocal improvement strategies for long-term growth. My goal is to help students become technically strong, expressive, and performance-ready singers.
