About Sergio
I'm Sergio, and I'll be honest — I almost quit teaching in my second year.
Not because I didn't love singing. I did, and I still do. But I kept watching students show up, make okay progress, and then slowly disappear. They weren't failing. They just weren't having enough fun to keep coming back. And that bothered me more than anything else.
So I started experimenting. What if I stopped structuring lessons the way I was taught to structure them? What if instead of moving through exercises and theory in the traditional order, I built everything around what actually kept people engaged? What if a lesson felt less like school and more like something a student would choose to do with their afternoon even if I wasn't there?
That's where everything I do now comes from.
The other big shift was going visual. I'd noticed that when I explained something — really explained it, with something a student could actually see — the lightbulb moment happened almost instantly. But when I just described it verbally and asked them to feel their way to it, we'd sometimes spend weeks on the same thing. Visual just works faster. So now it's at the center of everything.
Seven years later, the students who disappeared stopped disappearing. That told me everything I needed to know.

I don't really do traditional warm-ups. The way I open a lesson is more like a game than an exercise — something that gets your voice moving and your brain engaged at the same time, without feeling like the boring part you have to get through first.
From there, everything we work on gets shown before it gets practiced. Breath support, pitch, tone, range — all of it becomes something you can actually see happening, not just something you're trying to feel your way toward based on verbal instructions. Your brain picks it up faster that way. Significantly faster, in my experience.
The structure of lessons is deliberately built to feel like progress is always happening. There's always something you're working toward that's close enough to feel real and exciting enough to actually care about. Some weeks that's a specific note you've been chasing. Other weeks it's a full song that finally comes together. Either way, you leave the session knowing something shifted.
The goal is simple — you should be thinking about your next lesson before the current one is even finished. That's when I know things are working.
