About Michael
Michael Swann is a freelance trombonist and music educator in Dallas, TX. Currently, he teaches lessons and masterclasses for all low brass instruments in several districts across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and regularly performs with regional orchestras, chamber ensembles, jazz bands, and commercial groups. Michael also serves as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the state. Growing up in North Texas, Michael was surrounded by high levels of musicianship. He performed with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra from 2006-2008, later going on an international concert tour with the GDYO Wind Symphony. In 2008, Michael was selected as the Bass Trombonist of the Young Artist Orchestra at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. Michael holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he studied with Dr. Deb Scott, and regularly performed in the SFA Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Trombone Choir. His other primary teachers include Bob Burnham, Jimmy Clark, and Dr. Bruce Faske.

I’ve played trombone for 20 years, taught for 10. Students have qualified for Texas All-State Band, and I can provide tutoring in Theory & general music.
