Sundar mentored me throughout the year during my Materials Science Masters project based on electeodeposition techniques for nanocomposite coatings. I couldn’t have done the project without him. He taught me how to use all of the apparatus for my project, as well as strategies for steering the direction of the project in a sensible way. We had very useful discussions about the literature to ensure that the work we did was novel. Importantly, once I was able to run the experiments and analysis alone, he allowed me to do this which strengthened my research skills. Of course he was always on hand if I had any questions or wanted to discuss an important aspect of the project.

Sundar was a fantastic Material Science supervisor during my second year of studying engineering at the University of Cambridge. He has the ability to explain various ideas, which earlier seemed complicated, in great detail, and always made sure that I understood the concept before moving on to something else. What I also liked about his style of tutoring was how he structured each supervision, which helped me get the most out of the hour with him. He was also very helpful during non-supervision hours, as he was happy to answer emails, and made sure to follow up on any queries until they were resolved.

Sundar is maybe one of the best tutors I have met throughout these years. He is not like traditional teachers who only care about students’ academic performance; instead, he pays a lot of more attention to students’ own understanding and creativity. Also, during his classes, he can always apply to much common and daily staff to help me understand the difficult definition of some words. I will never get bored when having his classes.
