About Joe
My name is Joe, and I want to be honest with you from the start — the violin is challenging.
I'm not going to pretend otherwise, because I think that kind of honesty is actually what sets good teaching apart from great teaching. The students who come to me knowing it'll take real effort are the ones who stick with it. And the ones who stick with it are the ones who end up absolutely astonished by what they can do.
I've been playing violin for most of my life. I've performed in settings that taught me discipline, precision, and expression in equal measure. And somewhere in the middle of all that performing, I realized that the most satisfying moments weren't always on stage — they were in lessons, watching someone finally get something they'd been working toward for weeks.
That's what pulled me toward teaching. And that's what keeps me here.
I work with students at every level — from complete beginners who've never held a bow, to intermediate players who've plateaued and need someone to help them break through, to advanced students preparing for something important. Wherever you are, there's a path forward. I'll help you find it!

Violin lessons with me are structured, focused, and always moving forward.
We start with an honest assessment — not to judge where you are, but to understand it. Because the only way to build a real plan is to know exactly what we're working with. From there, every lesson has clear objectives. You'll always know what we worked on, why it matters, and what to focus on before we meet again.
Technique is non-negotiable here — posture, bow hold, intonation, tone production. Not because I'm rigid about it, but because bad habits on the violin compound over time and I'd rather build things right from the beginning than spend months undoing what went wrong. That said, technique is never taught in isolation. It always connects directly to the music you're learning.
Progress on the violin is real and deeply satisfying when it happens. I've seen students go from scratchy, uncertain sounds to genuinely beautiful playing — and every time, it comes down to the same things: consistency, patience, and the right guidance.
If you're willing to put in the work, I'm willing to put in everything I've got to help you get there.
