About Leah
I have been writing, editing, tutoring, and teaching English, specifically writing, for more than 20 years. I have received several awards for teaching, including the Excellence in Teaching and Most Caring Teacher, from a major university. I have experience with domestic students and ESL students from all around the world, and I have taught for Canada's Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. I love students and thoroughly enjoy helping them learn to express themselves more masterfully in English. My students have always reported that I am kind, approachable, and willing to anything to help them learn.

Once I know exactly what kind of assignment or project you're working on, I develop an individual plan for each student based on key concepts and the individual's learning style. I'm friendly, approachable, and very focused: I give lots of feedback including praise for what you do well and constructive (never rude or insensitive!) feedback to help you strengthen your writing. My job is to help you find something you're already interested in to motivate you -- we always write better when we care about the subject in some way. I do best working with writers in college, university, grad school, and professional environments, but I have lots of experience working with younger writers, middle school through high school ages.
