About Henrique
Data Scientist and Professor with more than 8 years of experience. Guest researcher at Fundação Joaquim Nabuco, Ph.D Candidate in Economics and Master in Applied Econometrics and Forecasting at ISEG (University of Lisbon).
I worked as a researcher with statisticians and economists for 2 years (2014-2016). We publish scientific works in various conferences and magazines. I won the award for best scientific paper at the national meeting of economics students (2015).
In recent years I have worked as a Professor and Data Scientist.
I have already supervised several students with master's and doctoral theses and academic works.

In addition to my theoretical knowledge, when starting explanations with a new student, I try to acquire information about the subject's prerequisites and, above all, the student's difficulties. I always start the explanations with simplifications and practical applications so that we can then improve the level. As a result, student engagement with the subject/explanations tends to grow, along with confidence. In my opinion, essential for greater autonomy in studies.
In addition to my knowledge in statistics, econometrics and research, some of my specialties of interest are:
-Regression models;
-Testing estimated models for violations of OLS assumptions;
-Simulations; Time Series models such as ARDL, ARIMA, VAR, and ARCH/GARCH/VECM;
-Models of binary Choice such as Logit & the Probit;
-Count data models such as Poisson and Negative Binomial regression;
-Panel data models;
-Event studies models like DiD, Synthetic Control and Regression Discontinuity Design.
I work with R, Stata, Eviews and SPSS.

In addition to my technical know-how in academics, I acquire information about the course prerequisites at the start of a session with a new student and listen to the student's problems and worries. Usually, I initiate the discussion with simplifications at times and then gear up the pace. As I proceeded, the involvement and participation of students increased slowly and silently. As I have seen, it as the most natural way of improving confidence and self-esteem.
