About James
I have taught private woodwind lessons: flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, and bassoon for over 35 years. Over my career, I have taught over 125 students. Many of my students have gone on to become professional musicians, recording artists, graduate students in music, and teachers.
My Bachelor' of Music is from Indiana University-Bloomington (Saxophone & Jazz Studies); Master of Music from the University of Denver (Jazz Studies); and my Doctor of Arts from University of Northern Colorado (Saxophone Pedagogy & Performance with a Secondary in Jazz Studies).

I approach each student as an individual. We start with what they want to accomplish, immediate goal, 6 month goal, 1 year goal, 5 year goal, and ultimate goal. Although there are foundational items to be learned, we try to find ways that interest the student in order to achieve this foundation.
