About Bertie
I started programming in 2011, when I was 16, and was lucky enough to have a supportive and passionate teacher. I fell in love with writing code, and find a deep satisfaction and joy in it. Almost the only thing I enjoy as much as doing it, is teaching it! I started helping others when I went off to do a Computer Science degree after Sixth Form, and found not only how much I could do for them, but how much I get from it myself. As someone who enjoys programming as much as I do, I want others to find that too!

I'm fairly new to private tutoring, but have spent a lot of time helping to teach various CS modules at universities. I have done this both in groups and individually, and though I enjoy both styles, I do prefer the one-to-one approach. My lessons are usually an hour to an hour and a half, as I think that that's the optimal length of time to make a good amount of progress in without losing concentration. All ages, from very young (using Scratch) to very old, are welcome: you just have to be able to video call and speak English. Similarly, there are no restrictions on level of experience (you can be a total beginner, or have been doing it for years), other than that obviously I need to have sufficient knowledge of what you want to learn to teach you. I can teach a range of languages, libraries and ideas: the easiest way to find if I'm able to be your tutor is to contact me and tell me what you'd like to learn! :)
