About Shana
I'm Shana, a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at a London-based university, where I lead the QTS module and contribute to the design and delivery of PGCE and apprenticeship programmes. Training teachers is not something I do alongside my main work; it is my main work.
Before moving into higher education, I spent over a decade in secondary schools as a PE teacher and Head of Year, so I understand the realities of the classroom and school placement from direct experience. I know what it feels like to be a trainee navigating the gap between university expectations and the demands of a real school environment, and I know how to help bridge it.
I hold a PGCE in Secondary PE, a CMI Level 7 Award in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring, and I am currently completing a Master's in Education Leadership. My background in coaching and mentoring is not incidental; it directly shapes how I work with trainees, combining high expectations with genuine, structured support.
I work with trainees across the PGCE, School Direct apprenticeship and QTS-only routes, and I understand the specific pressures and requirements of each pathway. Whether the challenge is academic writing, meeting the Teachers' Standards, surviving a difficult placement or preparing for assessment, I bring professional expertise, sector knowledge and a mentoring approach that goes beyond what a standard tutor can offer.
If you are in teacher training and want support from someone embedded in that world at the highest level, I am well placed to help.

These sessions are designed for trainee teachers on the PGCE, School Direct apprenticeship or QTS-only route who want more than just someone to help them pass; they want a thinking partner who understands every dimension of what teacher training demands.
As a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at a London-based university and module leader for the QTS module, I work with trainees day in, day out. I understand the pressures of the programme from the inside: the academic writing demands of the Master's-level components, the practical expectations of school placement, the standards you're being assessed against, and the moments when it all feels like too much at once.
Support is available across both strands of teacher training. On the academic side, I can help with Master's-level assignment writing, academic reading and referencing, critical reflection, and the kind of analytical writing that PGCE programmes require. On the QTS and practice side, I offer guidance on lesson planning, subject knowledge development, meeting the Teachers' Standards, placement preparation and how to evidence your progress effectively.
Sessions typically run for 60 minutes online, but this is not just tutoring; it is an extended mentoring experience. Between sessions, I provide structured tasks, reflective prompts and resources tailored to where you are in your training. After every session, you receive a written summary with clear next steps, so nothing gets lost and you always know what to focus on.
I also offer ongoing support between sessions for those moments when placement throws something unexpected your way, because teacher training rarely fits neatly into a schedule.
Whether you're just starting out, approaching a difficult assessment point or preparing for your final QTS sign-off, this is expert, experienced, inside-track support from someone who trains teachers professionally.
