About Korin
I have worked as a primary teacher across Early, First and Second level for over 10 years, teaching children with a wide range of abilities. I have worked extensively with children experiencing a variety of barriers to learning, and I am skilled in matching teaching and learning strategies to suit the specific needs of the individual child. While my experience in the main is of the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, I have successfully tutored pupils in other regions. I have undertaken a lot of professional development over the years, particularly in intervention programmes, using active learning approaches to enable children who are a bit ‘stuck’ to fill the gaps in their learning and become more confident in their own skills. I am currently on a career break from school teaching and am really enjoying providing tailored one-to-one support to children and focusing on numeracy/maths and literacy, which I am really passionate about.

I offer tutoring sessions that are highly tailored to meet the specific needs of individual children. Whether a child needs a short burst of one-to-one support to develop their understanding and consolidate their skills in a particular area/areas or longer term support, I will construct a programme of learning to cater for their needs. I carry out tutoring through password protected Zoom sessions, which enables me to use a whiteboard, e-books and other relevant documents and games to enhance children’s learning experience. I consult closely with parents when planning for learning and provide opportunities for regular feedback and review. I also provide optional follow-up activities after each session in the form of electronic resources and links to useful websites and games, and I deliver hard copy resources such as learning aids and games at least once a month. Most importantly, I provide a warm, positive and fun environment in which children are truly motivated to learn and encouraged to develop confidence in their skills. I am more than happy to discuss individual requirements with no obligation. I offer a free trial to every child at the outset of working with them and thereafter fees are payable via BACS. * As per COVID-19 guidance, I am currently offering online tutoring only but I will consider travelling to clients’ homes for tutoring in future if there is demand.

I engaged Korin’s help to tutor our 6 year old daughter recently and I found that she quickly built a good relationship with my daughter and really helped her with her confidence and to over come any difficulties she was having. She went over and above what I think any other tutor might offer -in that she gave personalised feedback and sent additional back up exercises to reinforce what she covered with my daughter. She answered any queries I had promptly and the tutoring was conducted very well with no time wasted. I’d recommend Korin as a tutor to anyone looking for someone to help their child.
Korin has been helping our 5 year old daughter with numeracy and literacy over the past few months and it's been transformational. Korin is super enthusiastic which is infectious and helps 5 year old engage and concentrate.
