About Iain
Hello! My name is Iain and I am offering public speaking sessions.
Over the past half decade, I’ve taught and practiced public speaking extensively. I’ve been part of the University of Nottingham Public Speaking Society for five years, including two as President and one as Training Officer. In that time, I’ve coached over 300 students, five of whom went on to win awards at national competitions (including one national university champion). I've also won a national competition myself.
Alongside this, I spent two years as a freelance coach with Loudspeaker LTD, delivering sessions to over 1,000 young people across schools, colleges, NCS, and summer camps. This has given me wide-ranging experience working with people of all ages, backgrounds, and learning styles.

I offer one-to-one online tutoring sessions, fully tailored to your individual goals and experience level. Whether you're a beginner seeking to build confidence, or a seasoned pro, every lesson is designed specifically around what you want to achieve.
We’ll begin with a free 30-minute introductory session, where we’ll discuss your needs, goals, and any challenges you're facing. This is your opportunity to see how I work, and for us to build a plan that suits your style and timeline.
My lessons combine visual, auditory, and verbal teaching methods, making them dynamic, practical, and engaging. We’ll cover all the key elements of public speaking such as body language, vocal range, confidence-building, structuring speeches, and audience engagement; with a balance of theory and real-world practice.
Sessions are flexible in length (starting from 1 hour) and can be scheduled at a pace that suits you, whether you’re preparing for a speech, a presentation, or just want to build general confidence in communication.
Over the past three years, I’ve worked with hundreds of people on their public speaking skills, from nervous first-timers to experienced professionals. The course you’ll follow has been carefully refined through real-world experience, has won awards, and has even helped complete beginners go on to become national champions. It’s a proven method that builds confident, capable speakers who know how to make a real impact.

Perfect! Lovely guy - very helpful

Perfect! I’ve been working with Iain for a while now on public speaking, and it’s been a fantastic experience. He strikes exactly the right balance between theory and practice — helping me understand the why behind great communication, while also pushing me to apply it in real time through exercises and feedback.
We’ve covered everything from pronunciation and pacing to audience engagement and thinking on my feet. Every session is well structured, creative, and genuinely thought-provoking. Iain always comes super prepared, but never rigid — it feels like a real conversation with me, not just a lesson to me.

He would help put my nerves at ease, explain complex topics in easy to understand ways, and would always go the extra mile. This included spending extra time with me outside of society hours to help hone my skills and become a confident speaker.
Before I joined the society, I was terrified of public speaking and even more scared at the prospect of learning it, but from the very first session, Iain had me hooked. He gave a friendly vibe and face to a scary topic, and I found myself going back week after a week. By the end of the year, I was transformed and extremely confident in my communication and presentation skills. I cannot recommend him enough!I always looked forward to lessons with Iain. I was taught by him at university and went from someone with immense anxiety at even speaking up in class to delivering my committee election speech in front of a whole lecture theatre! Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to start on their public speaking journey!
