About Sofina
I am a passionate and dedicated Science Lecturer with over 10 years of experience teaching and mentoring learners across further education, alternative provision and private tuition. I hold QTLS status, a PGCE in Post-16 Science, an MSc in Biomedical Science and a BSc in Molecular Biology.
Throughout my career, I have taught BTEC Level 3 Applied Science, Gateway Level 2 Biology, GCSE Science and Functional Skills, supporting students with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. I believe every learner can succeed when they are taught in a way that suits their individual needs, and I pride myself on creating engaging, inclusive and supportive learning environments that build both confidence and academic achievement.
Alongside teaching, I have experience in quality improvement, coaching colleagues through my Learning Improvement Mentor role, conducting student progress reviews, tracking learner achievement, writing UCAS references and using digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Moodle, ProMonitor, ProSolutions, eTracker and SchoolCloud to enhance teaching and learning.
Having successfully delivered remote lessons throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, I am confident in creating interactive online learning experiences that are well organised, engaging and tailored to individual learners. I am now seeking flexible remote teaching and tutoring opportunities where I can continue helping students achieve their goals while balancing my family commitments.

Hello! I’m Sofina, a qualified Science Lecturer (QTLS) with over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience across GCSE, BTEC and post-16 education.
I currently teach BTEC Level 3 Applied Science and Level 2 Biology at a Further Education college in the UK and have previously taught GCSE Science, Functional Skills and Level 1–3 BTEC Science. I also have extensive experience supporting learners in alternative provision and helping students who may have struggled in mainstream education.
My teaching approach is supportive, structured and tailored to each learner’s needs. I break down complex scientific concepts into clear, manageable steps and will use exam questions and the mark scheme to help you achieve high grades for GCSE/ Functional Skills Maths and GCSE Science. For BTEC Science, I will help you improve your grades from merit to distinction and show you exactly what content you need to provide for each criterion as well as show you distinction level assignments.
I can support students with:

• BTEC Applied Science coursework and exam preparation
• Functional Skills Science and Maths support
• Assignment feedback and exam technique
• Revision planning and study strategies
I have experience delivering lessons both in person and online using platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Moodle, and I regularly incorporate interactive learning tools such as Kahoot to keep lessons engaging.
Many of my students improve their grades and confidence within a few months through structured guidance, regular feedback and targeted practice.
