About Jenny
I'm 34, a qualified teacher with a degree in Biomedical Science, and I'm passionate about helping students discover that science can be both understandable and genuinely enjoyable.
I'm a mum to my young son and, when I'm not teaching, I love reading and spending time with my three cats!
I've always loved learning myself, and when I was younger I really enjoyed the feeling of discovering something new and finally understanding something that had initially seemed difficult. That's something I'd love to help my students experience too.
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is the lightbulb moment — when a student suddenly understands a concept that they've been struggling with. This is one of the reasons I particularly enjoy one-to-one teaching. It gives me the time to understand how each student learns, identify exactly where they're getting stuck and explain things in a way that makes sense to them.
I believe learning shouldn't feel like a chore or something to be afraid of. It can be fun, interesting and incredibly rewarding, and my aim is to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence.
Ultimately, I want my students to leave a lesson not only knowing more than they did before, but feeling that little bit more confident in their own ability to learn.

Hi, I'm Jenny, a qualified teacher (PGCE/QTS) with a degree in Biomedical Science, and I specialise in helping students understand science in a way that feels clear, engaging and achievable.
Science can be an intimidating subject when you're faced with complicated terminology, difficult concepts and exam questions that seem impossible to decode. My approach is to break those ideas down into simple, manageable steps — then build your child's confidence until they can tackle them independently.

Biomedical Science Degree
My scientific background gives me a strong understanding of biology and the underlying science behind the curriculum. I particularly enjoy making difficult biological concepts easier to visualise and understand.
I teach for understanding, not memorisation
Rather than simply giving students facts to remember, I'll help them understand why something happens. Once a concept makes sense, remembering it becomes much easier.
️ Patient, encouraging and supportive
Not every student learns in the same way. I create a relaxed environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes and build confidence without feeling embarrassed.
Exam-focused when you need it
For students preparing for GCSEs or other exams, sessions can include exam technique, working through past-paper questions, identifying common mistakes and learning how to structure answers for maximum marks.

My tutoring style:
Every student starts from a different place, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
We'll identify what your child already understands, where they're getting stuck and exactly what they need to improve. From there, I'll tailor each session to them.
Whether your child needs help catching up, wants to push towards higher grades, or simply needs someone to make science feel less overwhelming, I'll meet them where they are and help them move forward.
My goal isn't just to help students get better marks. It's to help them leave each session thinking:
"Oh… I actually understand that now."
