About Laura
Science is a passion of mine and has fascinated me since I was at school. Being able to share the enthusiasm that I have by helping people to understand and succeed in this subject for academic reasons or simply to gain a deeper knowledge of science would be extremely gratifying.I would also be available to tutor in Maths and English up to KS3. I am friendly, patient and willing to work hard to help those that I tutor fulfil their potential.
I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and have QTS. As a science teacher for the past two years I have had experience planning and delivering Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons to students aged between 11 and 18. I have experience teaching the new AQA Biology and Chemistry specifications and can help students revise content as well as practising exam questions.The classes I taught had students of mixed abilities, including some with special educational needs, which meant that I had to adapt my lessons to meet the demands of each student and enabled me to develop my explanations and teaching resources so that all pupils could access the content of the lessons. All of these skills will be useful and enable me to provide high quality tutoring sessions.
Recent experience of teaching in schools has equipped me with various resources and strategies which I will employ with tutees. Sessions would be fairly relaxed and informal however I expect tutees to try their best and have a genuine interest in learning the subject in order to create a positive environment based upon mutual respect.
